Getting over my fear of balloons
Self-portrait
2024
Originally conceived as a “donut letter” mailed to New York-based skateboarding magazine Lilypad, and subsequently exhibited at Waste Space in London, United Kingdom, this self portrait pays tribute to my fear of balloons, which has persisted since childhood. My desire to get over the fear is part of an alphabetical laundry list of twenty six tasks I wished to complete in my twenty fourth year. After photographing this self-portrait, I filmed a video of myself wielding a kitchen knife and popping each balloon despite my fear.
